Phals by nature are tough orchids. They are airplants after all! However, You can't judge a phal's overall health by its flowers, as they sometimes bloom as a last ditch effort to pollinate with other orchids to make babies to ensure another generation! The most important part of your phal is its roots. Are they mostly green/gray and plump? Thoroughly inspect them and remove rotten ones. Repot if necessary. If I were you, I'd just cut off the flower stems, since the plant is already focusing more on itself than its flowers. Definitely sounds like your orchid is going through a period of readjustment, but rest assured, it'll be ok (: Also, make sure it's not receiving any drafts from any vents in your home.
