All your observations seem accurate and well taken by me coeruleo. Definitely 'other orchids' do alot better with lower humidity. I have tried wooden baskets or plastic pots with bark mix and I agree that intially the Vandas do better this way. Over the course of afew years though I find their much more prone to root rot and bacterial infections. Once a infection takes hold its rare you can save the Vanda. I may have to really saturate the air with a misting system on a automatic timer that is directed near, but not on the orchids. Thanks so much for your in put coeruleo.
