Hwra Lava Burst 'Puanani' AM/AOS

I bought this locally a while back at our orchid nursery for only a few $. It was not in bloom or even in spike.

It has been living in my lighted grow area for the last month or so and has done well I think.

It has grown new roots, has a new pb growing and it is now in spike, I think and hope. In the first picture, the spike is seen on the right side above the 3 leaves that look damaged (from what I don't know). It is the thin structure.

In the 2nd shot, the new pb is seen.

Yes, the nursery had them in bloom, but now that I grow orchids, I don't have to buy them already blooming. So I didn't on this occasion. It shows progress in my orchid experience I think!

Why this lovely plant so dehydrated and is not good while in spike?

It gets watered and misted daily and sits in what was my most humid grow area. Should I move it to the new orchidarium?

I am assuming that the damage was done when you bought it. That's why it was so cheap. If you see new roots starting I'd move it to the orchidarium. Might want to check the quality of the potting media too.

This one has been living in the orchidarium since I opened it doors to orchids.

It has done very well living in the high humidity. I have seen the humidity go down to 88% when the temp is in the upper 70's F and rise to 99% overnight with the temp in the 63-65 F range. I still need to get air movement going in there. In fact, I am going to walk downstairs and talk with an engineer about my fan idea right now!

The new pb that had started as tripled in size and a second one may be visible growing now. The flower spike looks more robust and the plant in general has just done better.
