    Default Encyclia bractescens In Bloom

    Got this small Encyclia from a friend and with bright light it's started blooming. With 21 buds it should be a handsome display and additional perfume in the green house. Enjoy! ALName: Paph.     As you probably know Harvey, most Encyclias are known for their fragrance. AL

    I have one on order, supposed to be shipped after 2/18.

    The one I am buying is:
    Encyclia cochleata- the national flower of Belize. I saw and photographed this one at the Denver Botanic Garden.

    I now understand this has gone thru a name change to Prosthechea cochleata

    I received one as an "extra" in a trade once. Unfortunately, it did not survive. Not entirely surprising, perhaps, as it was a single pb. Still rather disappointed that it died, though.

    Good choice Harvey. Encyclia cochleata is a profuse bloomer and a great, easy care orchid! You'll love it! AL

    I hate when plants die, but something that small and young with only one bulb of growth? I'd probably of killed it also! AL
