Save my Phal

No worries! For the first few posts you are moderated and they won't show up immediately. I think its ten of them.

I hope it blooms too! But for now I wait another year, my Phals are blooming and it missed this year. It is, however, a big and happy plant. We turned up the temperature in the house for my Mother in Law, she's 89 and lives with us and gets chilled easily. I'm probably lucky any of them bloomed, they like a bit of coolness (a drop of ten degrees or so) to trigger blooming and we aren't even really turning down the night time temps so much at this time. I'm just glad she is able to live with us and enjoy herself.

I agree with orchis and carol. Did you sprinkle some cinnamon powder on the roots that you trimmed off? ( prevent any infections; so you won't have another problem to take care of).

Deal the problem with what's readily avaiable at home. You can also use organic liquid nutrients that are used in hydroponics to nourish your phal.

From what I read, Cinnamon powder should not be used on roots as it would stun the roots and would not grow them. Cinnamon powder is excellent anti fungal treatment for leaves,stem, pseudobulbs but not on the roots.
