Default How I saved this little Orchid

Here is an example of an orchid that does well in a viv. Cishwenfia pusillia.
When I first got it, I just hung it near a door way with plenty of ventilation, and light. But it dried out often and it started to loose all its leaves. Imagine a person going bald in just a few weeks.

    Not a pretty site.
Then I put it in a 55 gallon viv and the leaf dropping stopped very quickly. I repotted it into a fake rock planter, with fern root, gravel, and sphag moss. I also cut the dead and rotting roots. Today its growing lots of new leaves, and looks very good with the exception of one yellow leaf. This leaf has been yellow since I put the plant in the viv, so you could say it stopped dieing. The plant has been in the vivarium since February.

And here is the Cynops orientalis that often calls this plant home

    Neat Tindo....
I finally got daring and put 2 orchids in my vivarium... eek... I put a Bulbo and something else - I forget. Maybe a Catt....
Keep updating us on how it's doing - that's cool!

    Thanks!

Do you have enough lighting for those?

The room is quite dark, so I have a bedside lamp shining toward the tank all during the day. I figured if they start to look bad, I will take them out.... what worries me most is the spagh probably doesn't dry out ever - because of the humidity and the fact that I put it in quite damp....

How's your air quality? I have computer fans in my vivariums to combat wet conditions.

Nothing like that - just a tank, some water, substrate, live plants, froggies and some orchids.... I just don't know how to make an intricate tank. Wish I could buy a nice one already done LOL.....
The orchids were cheapies... we'll see what happens.... unless you think they are destined to die. Then I will of course take them out and repot them....

It looks much happier in the viv. Good save and I may have to try that on a couple of my infirmary orchids.
