Psygmorchis pusilla

I know im only posting about plants i've got, but if i start talking about the ones i want too much (like jacob's ladder) i have a feeling ill find a way to rationalize spending a paycheck on a plant, haha. so anyway, here goes.

This is my new Psygmorchis pusilla, really cute miniature. I saw pictures of the odd proportion of flower size to plant size and had to have it.

I have however heard that for some reason its a relatively shortlived species. anyone else had that problem? if so, do you know of a good method for taking cuttings? the semivandaceous growth habit and diminuitive size (and my big clumsy hands) make me nervous about the idea of taking a scalpel to it some day, and would certainly enjoy new information on it.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, those are the only 3 photos i was satisfied enough with to share.

So here's the next step in my addiction. I am a little bit of a photography nut, so not only am i likely going to blow the dust off my AE-1 and 150mm lens and take some real shots - my first endeavor in color. i find b&w generally does pretty much everything better justice, but until i try it (and most likely find myself disappointed with the likeness) im going to assume i will need color to properly capture an orchid's beauty. Here's the long and short - i'm going to have to get a better digital camera. even though i like SLR better, scanners tend to warp the appearance of the picture, and since i love to share and get feedback, as any reasonably mentally unstable orchid addict does, i need something that transfers better to web publication.

anyone have any ideas on a good digital slr for closeup clarity?

Valuable advice - thank you very much. Are they generally a rapid growing variety? I've got a beautiful piece of cork and a few twigs that wake me up in the middle of the night and say "Colin... Cooolllllliiiinnnnnn... when are you going to mount something preeeettyyy to me? eh? eh? GIMME A PLANT!" what a wonderful passion!

they are not particluarly fast growung ,but then no orchid is fast growing

wow!!! What a fantastic little orchid. I love minis! What did you mean by short lived species??
Would this little guy do well inside a well ventilated terrarium???

I tried to actually catch your attention about that on one of your threads - i just brought up my tank and growlights from storage, and am going to set up a vivarium soon, in which i will keep the pusilla.
