Awesome, I really didn't want to cut the flower spike unless there was some benefit for doing so. I'm also moving soon and will have to transport this plant about 700 miles, but it shouldn't yet have any flowers by then so hopefully that will go smoothly. So I gather from what everyone said that it's generally best to just let orchids do their thing, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the advice
