Updating perpetual inventory
UPDATED TITLE: "updating perpetual inventory and fatalities". - This morning, I was re-numbering my inventory of orchids and realized the last time I did that, the current numbers were off by ____ (i'm not going to say). When I re-number my current collection, it's because some plants either have been given away, died whatever. This led me to contemplate: WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE OF THE "FATALITIES" IN AN AVERAGE GROWERS COLLECTION THE FIRST 10 YEARS? In other words, hypothetically, if you start off with 50 and the next time you re-number you have 52, but SOME aren't the same plants you had before, what would the number of DIFFERENCES be for the average grower, doing this over a period of 10 years? (Example: 1-2014 I had 50/ 6-2014 I had 52 but I bought 6 NEW ONES). THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE. In other words, what would the loss be, on an average, doing this process perhaps twice a year, over a period of 10 years? ALL INPUT/GUESSES WELCOME (because I have no idea and just know what my number is)
