Bifrenaria Harrisoniae

I just bought a Bifrenaria harrisoniae. it is a flowering size plant and when i unwrapped it it was in bud nice surprise for me. the problem is it is extremely tight in its pot so tight i can't pull the name tag out what i need is some advice on to look after this plant i guess i won't be repotting it till it finishes flowering which could be a while what do you think any advice will be appreciated thanx

Check this out. Good info on it. And looking at the pictures of the orchid, in situ, growing in tight cracks in the rock on this link, it appears to like tight places. It doesn't say that in text but that is what it looks like to me.

I have one myself, its big enough to bloom, but hasn't yet. I was told they don't like to be repotted or disturbed any more than necessary. Mine is growing very nicely in my South window - which is quite sunny and warm in the summer. Yours, like the pictures I've seen of them in the wild, has yellow/olive pbulbs, which indicate a lot of sun to me. Mine are greener. Since they grow out on the rocks in the sun, I figure they like it pretty bright and will handle some heat. Mine is thriving with my Cattleyas, I hope it blooms. I haven't found any recommendations on how to get them to bloom though. Mine is in moss in a hanging basket, the way it came to me and has grown several pbulbs in the couple of years I've had it.

i repotted the plant and the buds are starting to open i will post photos when they are open no bad side affects from the repot that i can see the plant gets full morning sun and full afternoon sun at the moment but here it is still spring so the sun is not too hot at the moment i water it every couple of days that may change when the heat gets turned up

I had a piece of Bifrenaria harrisoniae 'Ruth' AM/AOS for many years. I treated it identical to my Cattleyas and it did great. As to a winter rest, I give almost all my plants less water in the winter.

the bud has finally opened the repot doesn't seem to have bothered it at all the second bud is yet to open but is close i have one question i have ants on the buds i cant see any thrips or scale or anything else that may attract them would they be gathering nectar
