Catttan,I find in our warmer climates that Dendrobium thyrsiflorum flowers more prolifically after a brisker than normal winter.I don't know if your temperatures drop below 15degrees C.in winter.Also,they should be watered sparingly and not fertilised in the cooler season.

OUr temperatures never drop below 24C even in the 'coolest' month of Dec, maybe one reason mine refuses to flower, but the frustrating thing is that a friend who lives just 30 miles away from me manages to bloom his thyrsiflorum every year without fail.
