I left mine on for 24 hours a day for months, didn't seem to hurt anything. I don't know if it affected flowering or not though, I do have some mature Phals that don't flower often. Mostly now I turn them on when I get up to see my husband off to work (about 6:30 am) and off when I go to bed about midnightish. I just go by whatever is convenient for me.
