Vandachostylis Kedah Bella

Bought this as blooming size about a year ago. Flowering for the first time at my place but quite disappointed because I was hoping that the lip has more intense pink colour. The lip has subtle pink colour that is hard to be photographed. The edge of the petal is kind of purplish. It seemed that V. vietnamica is very dominant from flower appearance. Rhynchostylis coelestis contribute to the leaf and fragrance (I guess).

Blooming time: Early March until end of April
Flower count: 12

Anyone knows if this hybrid is free flowering or seasonal?

Concur with you. V.vietnamica is dominated in this cross. From what I know most of the hybrids of Rhynchostylis coelestis bloom multiple times a year and have seen V.vietnamica bloom 2-3 times a year so could be a good cross to have.

It is so much like Vanda vietnamica which I purchased in March,(our autumn),. in flower when the whole plant was only 5cms.high.My Rhynchostylis coelestis flowered in spring.Your plant is beautiful.

Nice color combination. I understand about wanting the lip a little brighter, but it is still very pretty.

I have seen V. vietnamica before, it is quite small. This hybrid is very much larger. Rhynchostylis coelestis genes might have improved the size.

That is a good news. We will see if it is free flowering.

I have one of these and I love the 'electric' green' of the blooms. Yes it flowers several times a year here in Kedah.
