Dendrobium Sonia Bom ver. Earsakui ?

OK, I got this Den from my neighbor next door. Pried off a stalk with some roots on it from his Palm tree a couple of years ago.

It grew another stalk but hasn't flowered until now. Didn't know it's name until this morning when I went to my local HD and found the same Den witht he same flower. Hopefully, I got it right.

The strange thing is that the Keiki is the one that's flowering and nothing is happening with the larger older stalks. But who's complaining?

I copied the name directly from the tag in their pot.

I suggest that you take that ID with a large "grain of salt."

1) There are thousands of similar looking hybrids. (A x B) x C, A x (B x C), and. (A x C) x B can look similar, but are distinctly different hybrids.
2) Cultivars within a single hybrid can look wildly different.
3) Clones of the same cultivar can look different if given different culture.

Combine those, and I always have a great deal of skepticism about the ID of unlabeled plants.

That name is close enough. If you are propagating, then maybe not so much.

IMO, associating a name that may be close is a help keeping track of it, any name would do. I just note that it is an approximate name in my records.

Den. Sonia is a well known hybrid of this type, very commonly used in the cut flower trade at one time, maybe still is. I think it most likely this is Den. Sonia or a hybrid with Den. Sonia as a parent. What the rest of the tag means isn't clear. It does not seem to resemble any Dendrobium species or registered Dendrobium hybrid name, or any cultivar name of an awarded Dendrobium at least among all the cultivars referenced in OrchidWiz. It could be linked to a grower or distributor, but Earsakui is pretty distinctive and doesn't get any hits at all in an internet search except this post.
