When I bought this Paph, it was massive for me at the time. It was one of the first Paph's I acquired back in 2013. I thought it would be my first 'specimen' orchid. Since then, it caught the 'infection' that went thru my collection and I decided it was time to break it up to save it. I got 3 clean divisions from it. I gifted one and retained the other 2.

One division has come into bloom for the first time since being divided on 12/5/15.

Harvey, treat the plant once a month with KelpMax at 1 tablespoon per gallon, the two weeks later with Inocucor Garden Solution at 3 tablespoons per gallon, and that thing will be a specimen in no time.

When I was doing that in my greenhouse, my paphs went from 1 growth to 8, 2 to 10 or 12, in a year.

Very nice plant! I have a similar question regarding Kelpmax as you Harvey. Is it recommended to use every month or just in the initial rooting stages?

The Inocucor product is intended to be used continuously - monthly, year-round, as a probiotic, or more frequently if you're fighting a fungal infection.

KelpMax isusable in three different "modes," depending upon the need:

• Plants with no roots - submerge the plant in the solution, and let it soak for several hours.
• When potting up (including those from above) - water them in with the solution, then again the next two waterings.
• Routine use - apply as a normal drench once a month.

KelpMax may be used year-round on any plant that does not have a distinct "winter rest." For example, I'd avoid applying it to catasetums and the like, some dendrobiums, etc. On the other hand, for plants that don't, such as phals, paphs, catts, other dens, and the like, it's a major plus.

The two may be applied individually, together, with fertilizer, or not.

While KelpMax is probably the most effective root-growth stimulant, it actually does a lot more, which I found out with the growth multiplication effect. The US importer owns a winery specializing in Syrah and Petit Syrah grapes. He sprays the vines just after fruit-set, which causes the rachis to elongate, allowing better development of the fruit, but more importantly, to permit easier penetration of fungicides. I have never had the opportunity to experiment, but I'm sure that with proper timing and maybe adjustment of concentration, stuff like spike eleongation, and bud development can be affected.
