The Soph. cernua heritage is quite evident in this bloom, I like the bright colors. The bloom size is 1 1/4 inch wide and 1 1/4 inch tall.

Wow great colors
That is very full form for a cernua offspring. It is a somewhat unusual example of a splash petal mini Catt that doesn't get the splash from C. intermedia. One great grandparent was C. Hawaiian Fantasy, a full size floofy splash petal Catt. From there the trait was passed down to Fire Fantasy to Angel's Fantasy to Mini Fantasy. Do I see a trend in those names?
Very nice! I like the pointy petals!
Beautiful flower and colors Doreen!

Nice colors on this one.
It is dangerous to get me started, as Chris and others can tell you. I've followed Cattleya breeding trends in particular for well over 40 years.
Slc. (just C. now, technically) Mini Fantasy is C. Angel's Fantasy x C. cernua. C. Angel's Fantasy is 75% from 3 mini Catt species, mostly C. coccinea with C. aclandiae and C. cinnabarina. The other 25% is typical big and frilly Cattleya from at least 6 generations of breeding involving 9 species of large lavender, yellow or white Catts, resulting in white with colored lip and colored flares on the petals - C. Hawaiian Fantasy - a long and complex family tree. The flares probably came from certain forms of C. dowiana or C. purpurata but possibly other species. So your Mini Fantasy is 7/8 from small species, mostly C. cernua and C. coccinea that give the red color and 1/8 from large species that contributed the flares and helped with full form.
Lovely Doreen.
