As you may know, the EU in general is dead against GM, and so many decisions made there are binding on all EU nations. Another of the many reasons I personally had for voting to leave the EU. But I begin to wonder whether I can live long enough to see it actually happen.

For your info, in Malaysia, there is what we called Mufti. If you have belief, it could be used as a guideline. (I'd rather not talk about religion because it is drifted away from the main point of this thread). Not all GMO are wrong. But maybe "wrong" could be subjective here due to our different beliefs. It is just impossible to stop the advancement of science and technology, so why not embrace it but in the same time know what is acceptable and what is not.

I am against food GMO for many reasons. For one we don't know how it will affect our bodies and the second is how the GMO companies treat people. If their GMO genetics are found in the seed of a neighboring farm the GMO company can sue the farm for infringement even if the polin was spread by the wind. It also can affect Heritage lines, organic foods, and biodiversity. I eat mostly organic and I want what I pay for. Noooo GMOs. If people want a glow in the dark orchid - that seems fairly harmless.
