One reason for the expense of big 'roths is that they don't grow very fast. At one time I held the UK National Collection of Paphs, so I think I know what I am talking about. Whilst I did flower some paphs 20 months out of flask, most of the multi-floras took 7 years or more ; but then if you are going to need a 24 inch leaf span plant to flower, what can you expect. And many of them don't flower until they are up to multiple growths, whereas some of the Maudiae types flower easily on a single growth.
