2. A vanda recentlysent up a spike with 5 buds, and as of this morning all the buds have blasted and fallen off. In order to redirect energy to the plant, could I go ahead and cut the spike now or wait for it to dry up and fall of on its own?

Thanks as always for the expert advice!
I would soak the roots first, and see if there is any green once the velamen is saturated. If not, feel free to trim away the non-green parts.

Remove the spike or not. I doubt it makes much of a difference.
