Default Our orchids in bloom today

I just thought it was so nice today so I brought out our blooming plants on the deck and took some pictures.

From left to right: Paphiopedilum delenatii 'Karin Schon', Aerangis fastuosa, Leptotes bicolor 'Khairul Bariah', Prosthechea vitellina, Leptotes pohlitinocoi, Dendrobium lindleyi, Stelis quadrifida, Coelogyne nitida.

If you had any of that weather this past week I can understand why you want to spend some time outdoors. Well done!

Great family photo there Arne! Couple of questions. How long does an individual flower last on the Leptotes pohlitinocoi and are you staking the lindleyi spikes??

My pohlitinocoi came as a tiny plant two years ago and this is the second time it is blooming. Based on my memory from last year, I believe each flower lasts about 3 weeks (or 4 if I put it colder). The same goes for Leptotes bicolor - my 17-year old pride with the clonal name after my wife.

I don't stake the lindleyi flower stems. Each stem has up to 30 flowers.

We believe Anthony is an English Shepherd, probably mixed with something else because he is quite big. He is a gentle giant who actually likes to smell the flowers. Here with Schoenorchis fragrans:

The pohlitinocoi flowers only lasted a couple of days on the one I got last month. Probably because it was bare root and wrapped in newspaper for a few week. Very nice lindleyi!
