I was asked if I watered my plants in place over their humidity trays, and I don't because they will overflow. However, I did order some trays that were made to drain... while still keeping a low level of water for humidity.
Here is a photo. The pluses are not having to move all the plants to the sink to water them and then let them dry. And with the wood slats they are much more attractive. The minus is that watering in place you have to be careful of water running off leaves onto the floor. And the spacing is fairly wide, so nothing under a 3" pot.
