Nope, not picking him up. I don't like to touch (even inside a kleenex) large beetle looking insects. Now, if it were one of our local tarantulas, of course I would pick it up and carry it outside.(or a walking stick or a preying mantis) But a big beetle, Uh Uh. Just one of my idiosyncracies... (probably has something to do with one of my encounters with a VERY LARGE beetle in the rain forest... one with pincers...)
