I actually keep journals of my 'chids - when/where I got them, blooming times, repotting times, and photos so I can get excited when they're not in bloom. I just went through the docs and counted.

I'm up to an obscene 98, and that's counting two compots of Phrags as 2 plants and not 60!

46 Paphs, 17 Onc alliance, 10 Catts, 14 Phals and 11 of other genera. The windowsills are crowded!
Sounds like the (kitty) cats may have to sprout aerial roots to get their share of the attention. And I do think there's not much difference between tiny plants in tiny pots and compots as far as the total count goes.

We finally got a break in the weather, and the last several days have been glorious! I hope yours lets off soon, Bruce! Been sleeping next to the cool cell in the GH?

Mehera, the cats are...well, cats! They have a collective species subconsious rife with sure-fire ways to capture full attention as frequently and as inconveniently as possible.

You are in deep denial if you count tiny pots and compots differently. Pots is pots. When Nelson is asked how many Phal. equestris he has, he dosen't answer, "one." Because his 1,600 specimens happen to all be the same species. He truthfully answers 1,600. Now there's a guy in touch with his inner orchid!

You can lie about your age; you can lie about your weight; you can even lie about having sexual fantasies involving Mel Gibson...

But you cannot lie about your orchid count!

Let us reason together. Itty bitty little orchids in teeny tiny little pots grow up (hopefully) into what? That's right--into big orchids. And what do itty bitty little orchids in compots grow up into? You have to admit that they, too, grow into big orchids (especially phrags). So, you see, there is no practical difference as far as orchid count goes. So who is in denial? Me and my 8 itty bitty paphs, or Julie with her (cough!) 60?

As to Mel Gibson; I hear he has a rather large----mouth!

We now return you to the program which is already in progress....
