    Default Promenaea hybrid

Not sure what my fascination is with these little guys but I have 8 of them now, 4 species and 4 hybrids. Got this one last February and this is its 1st flower. The dark lip is a little different. Name is a bit much but maybe it has it's own now.

Thank you Zainal! I used to lose them in the summer. Now they go in the basement June to October.

Chris- interesting that you move them to basement in summer, even in Canada.
When I had my greenhouse in NH I was always trying to grow Masdevallia's because I love the vibrant colors.
I cannot tell you how many I killed before I realized I had the perfect set-up literally right underfoot because even in NH the summers get too hot.
We had an enclosed crawl space or old root cellar under the original house structure that was damp and cool all the time. I moved them down there during the summer with a grow light on a timer (it was more of a cave than a basement) and they thrived.
Just shows the ingenuity of us orchid nuts I guess. Just keep experimenting until we fool nature and succeed.
No Masdevallia's down here in the Keys though. You'd have to grow them in a refrigerator!

I know a collector that grows his Masdevallia and other cold growers to perfection in a wine fridge with a glass door.

Nice one Chris. We rarely come across these species.
