    Default Prosthechea cochleata-first bloom

I raised this little guy from a seedling. He survives the move and decided to put out a bloom so far he has two more buds developing. I am happy with his first try. Name: 576EEED3-E219-4CBF-A39F-FA23B4AA53FC.jpeg

Nicely done! The trick for me with these was finding the sweet spot. Not soaking wet all the time, but if you see the pseudobulbs wrinkling at all, it needs water. These things drink a lot when they get going, in my experience, and they don't like to stay dry for very long at all. They make specimen plants very quickly. When it gets big, you'll have flowers going all the time if it gets enough light. You may know all this already, but thought I'd chime in anyway.

Thank you Robb. I didn’t know this about this plant. I just knew that it is relatively difficult as far as orchids at least go to overwater it. Right now it is growing outside at the very edge of my covered patio so it does receive a lot of light. I think it may have to spend some time in the winter under my grow lights. Hopefully it will be happy there as well. Right now it only has about 5 psuedobulbs, but I do hope it continues to grow fairly quickly.

Hey, and if you don't overfeed it like me, you might not even get the occasional burnt leaf tip! I thought it was a calcium deficiency... duh... :P

I hope so. It isn’t even halfway close to filling a 3 inch pot right now.
