EpiWeb for potting

I was checking out the EpiWeb Website. It's a new potting material made from recycled plastic that's designed to mimic the properties of tree fern, now that tree fern is nearly impossible to find. PM for URL

It looks interesting. I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has tried it out?

Hello Julie,

I have tried Epiweb both as a potting material and as slabs. I have had great sucess with a large numbers of species such as Pleurothallis, Dracula, Bulbophyllum, Dendros and Phalaenopsis. The roots goes very freely into the material and roots really quickly.
I have some Pleurothallis that grows like weed in it.

You must pay attention to the fact that it doesn't keep as much water as a traditional Sphagnum/CHC substrate.
But the risk of killing your plant by over watering is eliminated.

Thanks for the information! I'll have to start experimenting with it. I don't do a lot of mounted plants, because I don't have good humidity in the winter. But I do have some. Great information!
