dying leaves on catt

about a week ago, one of the leaves on my (relativly) new catt started yellowing. i tried not to worry about it, since i can't think of anything it needs that i haven't been giving it, but since then the fist leaf has gone totally brown and dry, and two more have started yellowing. and i'm still trying not to worry too much, but i would really apreciate some advice.

if the attached photo isn't good enough, i can try and get a better one, but that was the best one so far.

compare that photo with this one from only 9 days ago.

My Potinara Hoku Gem did the same thing this spring, and I decided that I had not been letting it dry out enough between waterings, to be safe, I repotted it into a rock medium and it's doing a lot better.

But we need to hear from some catt veterans....

you think its too much water? i thought it might be too little, so i started misting it to keep it moist... not so smart, apparently!

Let's wait for someone who has a lot of catts to weigh in; I've only had mine for a short time....

The flower is pretty cool--what is the plant's name?

according to the the brooklyn botanical gardens it is a "B. Moonlight Perfume," i guess?

their site is hard to get through to right now, though, because they have a webcam of a 6 foot flower that just started blooming.

Hi, I am not an expert , but your plant has B nodosa as a parent , if so then it might be not enough light and to wet . Most of the ones I have that have B. nodosa in them , require more light than some of the others one of the tip offs is the narrow leaves . I tried the Royal Horticultural Society search did not get far with it .. Gin

Ok, i cut out misting the catt for now, and i'm holding off wattering it for an extra day or two,to let it get nice and dry.

the leaves are pretty throughly dead, will they fall off on their own and i should just be patient, or do i need to cut them off? if so, what do i need to do (if anything) abou sealing the cuts?

sorry for all the dumb questions, i'm pretty new with orchids.
