Finally got some nice healthy plants

After much drama I finally received my plants today. It’s great to have some nice healthy plants that have roots attached. Here’s a group shot. A few question
1. Do most of you replant once receiving
2. Will Phals do well in lava rocks? I have quite a few around.

Wow, nice haul! We always repot when we get a new orchid through the mail. About the lava rock and phals...It really depends on how you water. Good luck with all your new orchids!

Hi Fx, Thank goodness you finally got them! Are these from the same order that the postman said he delivered but didn't? At least they're there now, and they look great! I do repot when I get new plants--but not necessarily, if they are in bloom. Lava rock for phals wouldn't work for me, but I live where it's cool and arid. Have fun with your new orchid family.

No this is not the same order. This is a whole new batch. The first one never surfaced. I think most of my Phals are going to go in a big North facing textured bathroom window. The other will go outside under my shaded patio. I also work from home so watering is not a problem. I don't have to use them but I have them.

Congrats on your new plants - they do look like they're in great shape!

I repot upon receipt, but as Mehera said, if it's a plant that's blooming, I may wait until it's done.

Most of my Phals (doritanopsis) are being grown in SH using lava rock as a medium. If transferred at the right time they will do very well, but you must follow the rules for growing in SH or you may have a a bunch of dead phals on your hands.

SH = semi-hydroponics. Sometimes it is also typed S/H.
