Nice, Gin! Your colors are so saturated and vibrant! They look like candy! The other Gastrochilus photos I've seen aren't nearly as eye-catching!
The dasypogon name is right. The first one is actually acutifolium as an alias, but acutifolius is the currently accepted name. The acutifolius varies considerably in its color. Some are nearly pure yellow. Most have some red markings, yours is mostly red, which I think is the most attractive.
Very nice!

wow, i don't think i've ever even heard of the whole family before. what great little plants, i want!![]()
Beautiful, Gin. I had a Gastrochilus somai [my favorite of the genus] but unfortunately killed it. Was majorly bummed. Part of the problem for me, I think, was that it was a mounted plant. impossible for me to keep it from drying out too much. What media do you use? Looks like one is in a pot and the other in a basket.
If ya ever have a chunk that needs a home, I'd love to try again....
all and two wonderful ones
Cute! I did not know my hometown (southern part of China) had these species until I visited a Chinese orchid forum and saw those beautiful photos taken in the wild.
