Well, it may be a fire, but it's chilling none-the-less. I live in fire country, too, and hate to hear of anyone battling them. Hope your house isn't near the path of danger!
Those pictures are rather interesting. Rain all it wants down there, just not up here! Well, at least a couple more weeks. Socal getting battered by fires. Sawtooth was 6-7 miles from my parents house, then the idyllwild fire, which is pretty close as well, now this. Scary.
Maybe the housing market will have some breaks in prices.
Way too Scary for Ole Cin !!! I'll take a hurricane any day.
And for us in the desert, we'll take earthquakes! My sympathanies for those in the path of the fire. Lots of homes in its path, some have already been destroyed.
sorry, i'll take the earthquakes and fires over tornadoes and hurricanes.
Shekell Complex Fire so far:
13,600 acres - 5 homes - and a good percentage of california's avocado crop
(and a whole lot of eucalyptus trees)
This also what some of us have lived in or with

in short 'where blazes have already destroyed more than 12,000 hectares (30,000 acres) of bushland. '
This all sounds so familiar; drought and wildfire is a fact of life here too. Just last summer we were worried about the tinder dry conditions at the beginning of the season. But then it started raining and it rained all summer. You just never know. I hope it happens in your corner of the world too. Especially troubling about the koalas.
Are you having drought in NZ too Murray?
Saw this on the CNN website, the only way I get news over here. Hope it is under control, Many of my associates live in the Moorpark area.
That really is scary!
I remember the one a couple of years ago that they started as a controlled burn to thin the forests, and it swept out of control and did massive amounts of damage. Ugh!
