I purchased a beautiful DTPS Tung Ling Red Monkey Phal in September. It had a large spike full of buds and was to be my Deep Red Christmas orchid. As the buds began to open they all blasted. Then the leaves began to wilt. I unpotted it and found that all of the roots had been rotted off by the grower. I took pictures and contacted the seller and she was gracious and gave me a credit. She called me and made suggestions as to how I might save the plant. She had me plant it in perlite which I was to keep damp and bag it loosely. Didn't work. I tried planting it (really just the crown and some knobs was all that was there) and keeping it moist, warm and bagged. Didn't work. Now I have it wrapped in spaghnum and tented. I think I will try your rubber band method. The 2 large remaining leaves have good color although they are limp. I just can't make myself throw that little red monkey away! I was successful in saving a large noid white cascading phal that had one live root by planting it in medium bark and bagging it loosely. It has 2 new leaves and I am hopeful it will spike.
