My passed plant grew on a eastern windowsill.
Now I grow my plants under fluorescent lights and western window. My new house has no useful eastern window.
I know all these older books recomend eastern window for their morning sun but I believe any window will work. With southern windows you may need some protection depending on the plant
Julie, what is the magic database! you did it so fast!![]()
OrchidWiz. It's great! I can look up any registered cross and get a pie chart of the species composition, trees of the lineage, awards, offspring, etc. All cross-linked to photos.
The photos aren't too complete, but there are a lot of orchids out there. Still, Alex rolls out good upgrades with every revision. It's not cheap, but it has really increased my enjoyment and learning. And it's a handy tool to have for the forum.
I especially like it for hybrid culture questions like this. You just don't know how to care for a plant, if you don't know the % composition of the species in its background.

Wow! Thanks all!
vexillaria is a spring bloomer for me. I grow it next to my Zygos along the east wall of the greenhouse
