Rhytionanthos mirum

This always blooms with 2 flowers on each inflorescense. It has been seperated from the Bulbo genus and I believe it is now with Rhytionanthos due to the lateral sepals being fully united and the non exposed column. It is a southeast Asian species (java, Bali, Sumatra, Malaysia). This blooms on and off for me throughout the year.

Oh that is Weird! I really like it! Those are two blooms, correct? Are those white things solid or flimsy? It looks like some kind of poisonous reef tank animal or plant.

Yes, that is 2 flowers. The "dohickeys" are flimsy. It gets Bulbo culture but on the bright side of Bulbo light. It is stick mounted. I give it intermediate culture but would most likely appreciate it a bit warmer. I will see if I can get a picture of the inside of the flower so you can see the flower parts. It is a fairly small flower (3/4" long) so that will not be easy for me.

The lateral sepals form a slipper-like structure and the dorsal sepal cups over the flower like a zootrophion does. The "dohickeys" are from the petals. The column and labellum lie within the flower. many of the Bulbos don't have a fragrance, although I don't have a tendency of putting my nose to the flowers, LOL. I don't recall this one having any fragrance. The really smelly ones, you don't have to put your nose to to know they don't smell good.
