I know many types of ants use aphids to produce food but are ants the only vectors for aphids?
I've got aphids but I can't find any ants.

I don't think they need ants to sneak in the green house or grow area .
One year a plant of mine got aphids , must of come in thru the screen door from thetomato plants that were in the back yard . No ants to be found .
I saw a program on TV. it showed ants farming mealie bugs they carried the eggs on top of thier heads to prime hatching areas ... aka our favorite plantsGin
I've also had aphids but no ants. The seem to like the tasty new growth at the tips of my quince and (only some varieties) of my hibiscus. None on the 'chids, thank goodness. Neem seems to work the best for me.

We get ants in the GH, but usually not aphids. The do get on our outside plants (deck/ porch plants.) When I see them, I just get the hose and spray them away and then spray poison (usually malathion).

Aphids came with a house plant. No ants.
Anyway ants are predatory for the most part so I would worry about ants. Aphids are the evil ones.
