Beautiful, Todd!
No, not at all. It is better than spening money on cut flowers that last less than a week!!!
I am not an expert, but as noted in a couple of threads they do like it on the cool side. I learned this by experience with a couple I picked up for Renee out of the discount basked at the grocery, something like $1.50 each. They lasted a couple of months and then finally sucumbed once the weather started to get too warm. A friend at church has one similar to the white one above that has been in bloom and thriving for her for many years. She is going to start one for us to try. Next time I visit I will try to remember my camera and snap a picture.
I have sworn NOT to buy any more maidenhair ferns. I adore them but kill everyone I buy! Cyclamen are fine, I put them outside for the summer and bring them in before the 1st frost , and off they go! Judi
I might try maidenhairs again now that I have a case to grow them in with the orchids. Anything to try to keep the humidity up.
I haven't ever tried cyclamen, although they are lovely.
My weakness lies in the miltonia / miltoniopsis direction. I love, Love, LOVE them, but they do NOT love me. I can usually keep them alive as long as they are blooming. (Yes, I indulge and buy them in spike) But after that, they get all crinkle-leafed and pathetic. I know it is because there just isn't enough humidity in my house.![]()
I do like the theory that they last longer than cut flowers . . . I'll try that one on the budget next time I get the itch for a milt.![]()
Maiden Hair does fine for me , they can get big tho . Cyclamen not!

I've had my share of hardheadedness demonstrated by purchase of orchids that I know I can hardly grow. And worse, I have done it repeatedly...
