Lucky you Clint! I'd love something that nice at work!

I was wondering, on the topic of growing orchids in the office. How do you look after them? Or are you talking about an office at home where you are more in control of the conditions. Although Saide mentioned other people asking about them, so I assume not.

The reason I ask, is that the air in my office is incredibly dry, frequently getting down to around 20%-30% humidity. I had considered trying to grow a phal on my desk, but am put off by the humidity factor. I wasn't sure that it would really happen for my plant. I can't really bring plants in and take them home again once they have flowered, as my journey to work involves the commute from hell on overcrowded trains and tube and I think that they would just get squashed (I generally am!)

I had also considered the idea of a humidity tray under the plant pot, but thought that it would not be sufficient in those conditions. Any suggestions, or is it truly unworkable?

    Default Hi Kerry!

    Kerry,

I also have a great humidity source in my office. It's a bowl type electro-sonic fogger. The light source is already taken care of. You can grow orchids anywhere if you think "micro-climate creation".

I had my hygrometer up here for the longest time sitting beside of my office plants. It ranged from 45-75% depending on the day and the oncs, the paph and this one catt that I grow at the office have all done well. Granted, I live in a fairly humid area of the country and my offices are in the oldest hospital in Tarrant County (1850s). My office used to be an old operating room.
