A cross between Ascocentrum and Neofinetia, this one is aptly named, the flowers remind me of pinkish cherry blossoms! I paid way too much for it at the Philly Flower Show this past weekend, but I fell in love and couldn't resist. The plant is in rough shape, with only a few leaves, but it's got a huge root system, so should recover strongly. It's currently growing in a plastic 3" pot in coarse bark. I'm planning to transplant it into a hanging slatted basket with coarse bark for medium, once it's finished blooming. Current leaf span is about 6 inches, with two growth points. Each flower is about one inch across, with a one inch spur. The plant has spent spikes at each previous leaf node, so has done its share of blooming in the past. It has one large spike, and a smaller one only carrying a single flower. Rumor has it that this plant is fragrant in the evening and early morning, but I haven't been able to smell anything. Look these guys up, they're darling! Here's a photo...
