Ahh, that is lovely! Best of two great parents combined! I might want one of these one day....sigh.
Sgratrix,
That's a beautiful plant you have there! I was actually just thinking about getting a Don Wimber myself. Are they difficult to grow? Thanks for sharing!
Mine is in ProMix and the pot sits in a pan of water, I repot every year after its done blooming. It loves being wet, and takes all the guess work out of it. Not sure where you are but I got this one from Owens Orchids in NC.
Sgratrix, thanks for the info! I'm in SoCal and already have a vendor in mind. Silly question, but how deep is the water in your pan? Like an inch?Originally Posted by sgratrix

Wow, it likes being soggy....good to know ,as I have a seedling in Promix. Did you notice that Owen's was growing EVERYTHING in Promix ?? Vanda's Catts, Dends,Vanda's...........someone said they used a lot of styro peanuts. it was quite eye opening to see.....we were there this spring and I was not impressed with their orchids...lots of bugs and problems.
To answer a couple of questions,
Yes, about an inch of water in the pan, should do the trick just fine.
Owens does put everything in ProMix, its just a question of how much water and how often, however, its not for my liking, my one Don Wimber is all I have in it, except for a few phal seedlings.
Happy Growing.
I didn't see a paph and phrag house..they had a few in bloom in their phal house...which was crawling with mealies!Their catts also were also in bad shape...or at least the house we went in they were. Very overpriced on their phals, too. 4"pot $25-$30.
