Must i really devide this orchid?

Hey all,

My mum bought me this noid onc.
As you can see it has alot of new growth.
I like the way the plant looks..do you think i have to divide it or will it be ok like it is now? What would you guys do if you had a plant like this?
Maybe i can just repot it in a bigger pot when it's done blooming?

I don't think there's any rule that you have to divide a plant, especially if you like it the way it is, and it's healthy. Just repot it into a larger pot. Imagine how pretty it will be when it's got five or six or more spikes in bloom at once.

If you don't want to repot it then don't. It is not a matter of health to the plant. Just the way it looks.

oops I should have said "I would not divide it". I would repot it after it is done blooming though.

That was what i was thinking about liz

It will be a challange to repot this 1..at least for me.
I'll probably panic post for advice when that time comes.

If you have new growths from all around the pot (and it seems like you do), I'd definitely keep it intact. You'll get a much greater show with the next blooming. I'd only divide if it's growing in a single direction, or if with time there's a "dead spot" somewhere with a bunch of leafless backbulbs that are threatening to fall off anyway. But that's just me.

I agree with Jason, Dana. Plus, maybe by the time the next bloom cycle happens you can take it to a show and win an award! That would be awesome!

Dana, unless you have space limitations, I wouldn't divide the plant. However, until you repot, you might want to either mist those aerial roots regularly or else cover them with a little loose sphagnum moss in order to keep them moist.

I've been misting the arial roots since i got it
I can't wait for it to bloom with multiple spikes...yeah yeah...i have to be patient i know.
