Multiple new growths on my phrag - I'm happy, but is this normal?

Meaning, do phrags always just grow multiple new growths at once? I bought my Penn's Creek Cascade about 6 weeks ago, one growth at that time, blooming size, and all of a sudden I've now got 3 new growths coming up! I"m of course pleased, but was just wondering what the growth rate is normally for phrags - this is a heck of a lot more profific than most of my other orchids.

healthy phrags often throw multiple growths. they don't always mature though--sometimes the fastest growing new start (or two) will take over and the smallest one will just sit there and never amount to anything. but usually at least two will develop, and if you follow that exponential curve, you end up with a real specimen after a while...

and of course sometimes all the starts will grow up to maturity and you get quite a nice show.

Ok, that's interesting, because on my Wossner Super Grande, I had numerous new growths, and while several have grown, one has stagnated and I was wondering what was up.

Thanks Pete. I have a wonderful digital camera that I adore. It's one of those Sonys with the big snout. Takes amazing pics, though it is a bit big for a camera that you'd want to tote around for fun.
