Default Strange things happening at my house..

I don't know if there's something funky in the air around here but I've get two orchids acting a bit strange (I think..).
Both of the plants are starting new growths on top of existing pbulbs..

The first is a noid catt. that I bough last year - it wasn't in bloom and hasen't bloomed for me yet but something might be happening now.
Actually this one is starting new roots and a new growth(by the red arrow) from the middle of the the existing growth. And this existing growth is also a bit strange since it is actually two pbulbs (the first matured and then sent out another instead of a sheath I think)

The second is promenea Meadow gold in my terrarium. It had a new growth starting out normally when I got it, unfortunately this died and now it is starting new ones on top of two old pbulbs.

What is going on here!?! Are these cases common or did I just buy weirdo plants?

Could this be a developing keiki or something like that?

Keep in mind, I'm just guessing and really don't know what I'm talking about, since I don't grow either of those plants.

I don't know about the promenea..but I have a theory on the NOID catt. I think it may be an epidendrum cross that usually produced roots and keikis this way. Please do post a picture when it blooms!

This is interesting, I wonder what it turns out to be. At least they are happy enough to start doing something.

Do you use any fertilizers or plant hormones?
Some plant supplement products can cause this in certain situations.

They look like keiki's to me; this has happened to me several times and they look exactly like this when they start forming.

You'll have some new baby plants that you can pot up separately, its great!

Move the orchids away from the microwave!

Just kidding. I'm going with keikis --not some weird mutation.

Keikies sounds good, but im not using any hormones - just 20-20-20 fert. I'll be sure to post pics of the catt./epi. when it blooms!
