Do you think it could be from using Captain Crunch as the medium? LOL
Hehe. I actually bought myself a small bag of di lecca... now I just have to figure out what plant I want to try in it first.
What exactly is the makeup of that stuff? Lite, heavy, porous, etc? Does it hold moisture? It is advised for specific orchids?
Basically, light weight, porous rocks. Holds some moisture, but breathes well, inorganic so it won't rot. Typically used in semi-hydro setups, or sometimes as just normal potting media. Another name (and probably better made) is Hydroton.
Did I miss anything?
Shaydra's right, things look better lined up correctly. And if they won't grow straight my hubby is the one fussing until I prop them to make them look straight for him. Two in one house...it can be hell on the dust balls!
We aren't anal, we are just really really bored and need something to fuss over, eh?(speaking for myself of course...)

Anal who us ? can't bemine are in Puffed Rice
Gin
Hmm... Well, puffed rice would definitely hold moisture... however, I would think it would be especially biodegradable.... and possibly mold prone. And stinky as it broke down... But!! Yummy to eat (up to a point).![]()
And I think that growing orchids successfully tends to take a bit of OCD to begin with.... some of us are just a little more 'neat freaked' than others.
