Hamburg Orchid Exchange 2007

It actually wasn't that big, really only that one room - you just see it twice, once from each end. It was however pretty much filled with plants. In the middle a display by all the different vendors and around the edges they had stands with plants and pots, hangings, etc. for sale. I am thinking of going back again today just to bask in all the plants! There's always something you didn't "see" the first time!

Aside from the alien-like bat flower, I also thought the Bulbo was really interesting, since I believe those brown stalks are its flowers - weird!

Excellant displays!

I think that Bulbo platynhachis is cool! Saw one myself for the first time at a show last year. The blade [??rachis??] the flowers are on [the flowers are the tiny little bumps emerging from the blade] is bizarre ... and HUGE! Definitely NOT a plant for me to try on my plant stand.

I really liked the Epc Thai Glow -- how tall was the bugger?

The bat flower was neat!

In the first pic of the second set of pics, left hand side, there is a plant with large, pink, downward facing flowers .... any idea what that one is? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?Bueller?

Sorry, NO idea on that one. Don't think we got the name tag in the background anywhere either since it was so far into the middle.

Glad you like the pics! It was really fun - but I always sort of feel like I spent too much time trying photograph things and not enough actually looking!

Re: Thai Glow - I think it was pretty big and looked liked a bush - but it was hard to tell how much was one plant only. The one I bought has two spikes and is in a ca. 6in pot (but not very deep). The plant as a whole (inc. pot) is about 14-15in high. Will take some pics soon.
