Don't overlook the fact that many seed-grown plants are simply mules. They don't bloom. It's not the species, it's the plant itself. I've compared notes with several large orchid growers (of seed-grown plants rather than clones) and they agree wholeheartedly.
It makes a strong case for buying species plants in bloom, or previously bloomed. Mules combined with fussy species can lead to angst.
I also hate the plants that are happier throwing off keikis than blooming. It sounds cool at first glance, but who needs 4 genetically identical copies of a plant that's reluctant to flower. Not me!!!
