    Default Neofinetia Falcata

What should these be grown in. My mentor told me some information that is NOT working out with my divisions. Let me know how to grow these please. Can they be grown without media?

don't people grow those on hollow balls of sphag? The closest thing I have is a vandofinetia growing in a pot of rocks.

I have no idea. He told me to just grow it in sphag , and they like to stay wet. That just doesn't make sense to me, since they are vandacous.

We grow them in nothing but empty, 4 inch clay pots. No media whatsoever. The roots just latch on, and the plants seem to love it.

I decided to do that. I think I have enough humidity that they will be ok. The roots were rotting in the sphag, they weren't happy at all.

I have had several plants in the past and end up giving them away cause I get bored with them. then I remember how much i like them and buy another....sigh.... currently i don't have one but am getting one from a friend. What I have noticed is that they prefer to be mounted and the chance of them blooming is better when mounted. Not that they won't grow or bloom in a medium but if you have one that is a stubborn bloomer, try mounting it and it should bloom for you.

Go to New World Orchids (Neofinetia sellers) and they have pictures on how to pot them. You can wind the moss on a bottle leaving it hollow inside,or wind the moss on an inverted pot, and set that pot into another. That's how the experts in japan do it.
