Phal spikes died and haven't grown back

Well i would say to give it more light. It sounds like your watering and fert. enough to maintain overall health of the plant. Give it more light, you may have to watch the moisture of your growing medium more due to an increase in light and heat. Remember bright light not direct sunlight. Its not going to bloom in a week after the move, but in time it will.

I give my Phals sunlight but only early morning sunlight. If you don't have an eastern exposure you could place it a foot or 2 away from a western exposure window for afternoon sun. I give many plants that are suppose to be shade only some sunlight and they bloom much better. All my Phals and Bulbos get some sun

Give it more light, you'll know the right level when the leaves have developed a purple hue on the underside and around the edge of each leaf.
A temp change didn't work for me. I read from most in this forum that a temp fall for a couple of weeks in the fall will do the trick. I would leave my phals outside for the night till it got 15C (59F) but by October I couldn't risk the possible cold damage to the plants so I got them back inside. Still no spikes after that.
However some species seedlings I kept under artificial lights indoors (where temps are usually 18-22 [64-71F]) started to spike in late october.
I got my hopes up! I placed my other phals near a big southern window shaded by a white sheer curtain and barely 1 month later, voila. Spikes all over the place. Even a traumatized, two leaf phal spiked under these conditions. The only thing that still hasn't spiked is a huge 8 leaf doritaenopsis, but it is a new addition (bought in May 2007 in bloom) and I think it's adjusting its growing and blooming cycle to normal.

Thank you for all the help. I think I will try the cold, cold shock method. The phal sits in a south window which gets the optimum indirect sun in my house over the winter. Also, the leaves do have a purple hue to them. Any suggestions on how many days to place it in a cold spot? I have two pictures but don't have them online. A couple of weeks with 10+ degree temp changes should do it.

Easy to grow, aNd not that hard to actually keep alive.... but sodding hard to get them to rebloom sometimes.... until you hit on the magic formula that is!
