Default Phal comfort on snowy days!

Even though the winter has been brutal this year, its nice to have a little beauty from my orchids. I currently have 2 phals in bloom, my Onc. Sherry Baby is also blooming making my apt smell like sugary chocolate, and I have 3 more spiking.

My mom begs that you give your secret for blooming a phal in the north. She is North of Detroit and hers is making her frustrated. It grows nicely, puts out lovely roots but not one flower spike in two years. She bought it in bloom. She is using a good fertilizer....is there a little something else? Do you use lamps?
    Thanx

    Very pretty.

I think you need some orchid comfort this winter. My grandson just took a position at the University of Madison, and moved there, so I watch the weather every day. I'm from Michigan and even though we get lots of snow because of Lake Michigan (lake effect snow) our temps are usually a bit warmer because of the lake.

My grandson loves it there. He is originally from Michigan but studied in Calif. for 5 years. He says he is VERY HAPPY to be back in snow country again. He is a winter sport nut.

Gorgeous! We've just got our central heating back on after 4 days and the coldest temps of the winter! -7 might not seem much to you, but insulation and double glazing haven't reached our village yet! My plants are in the centre of the room!
