Here is a link to an article that might be helpful. I don't use epsom salts myself, because my fertilizer has magnesium in it.

I've never used Epsom Salts either, but if I remember correctly, magnesium is included as a trace element in one of the fertilizers we use. But that's a good article, Kenner. Thanks for posting it.
Very good article.
The different feeds i use do have Manganese listed as trace elements but only 1 lists it as .02%.
I think a little Epsom salts added every now & again will be enough .
(i do add about 10% fltered tap water to my rainwater)
Thanks guys.
Is manganese the same as magnesium?
No.Originally Posted by cattlover
It depends.
I think it,s a terminology problem.
Magnesium is a light combustible metal.Manganese is far harder & tougher.
I just think people(including me) just get the mixed up.
Easy to confuse the two... Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. Magnesium and Manganese are both metals (the first is an alkaline earth) but manganese is a lot more brittle and not nearly as reactive.
(And that was our chemistry tidbit for this evening....)
