If you do decide to use it, make sure you're treating a bacterial infection and not a fungal one. Most fungicides do part of their work by drying out the fungus and some of the plant tissue surrounding the lesions. Ointments which aren't designed to do that can actually seal a fungal infection in by clogging, preventing the area from "breathing," and encouraging the fungus to invade further without harming it in the least, so just use care.

I fully realize and agree with the importance of using poisonous chemicals as little as possible on your plants, but sometimes, if you're not sure what the cause of a problem is, you'll be better off going with an all around disease control that's been formulated for home horticultural applications, and not something designed for use on people.

(Having said that, I have a nagging suspicion that now, somebody's going to pipe up somewhere about how great Daconil worked for their jock itch....)

Oh, yeah, I'm sold on Lysol. I use the wipes first and then the spray to clean my counters before repotting my orchids (or what ever), and I spray the "incision" anytime I have to remove a leaf, ect. I've had great results so far. Ken Griffith from Lenette's orchids told me about it. I still "fire" my clippers with a torch.
