I think the paph I've recently moved to S/H is slowly adapting. Some of the older roots are slowly decaying and it looks like something new is about to appear (not sure if it's a root or a growth though).

Root or new fan, any new growth is a welcome sight during the transition to S/H.
The plants go through that scary transition phase where the old roots rot and you hold your breath until the new "S/H-compatible" roots emerge.
Some plants never make it past that phase which makes it really scary for some.
Even worse: Some people decide to switch some plants to SH, so the plants undergo this transition. Then the grower gets scared that the plant might die because it has no roots left.
They unpot it and switch it back to bark/multi-mix medium and the plant strains to readjust again.
I'm betting that is the tip of a new root peaking out at you. Lookin' good!
Looks like a root!
Cheers,
